FIRST® was founded by Dean Kamen in 1989, FIRST is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring students in the fields of science and technology. By bringing together professional mentors and high school students to design and build a robot in a six-week time frame, FIRST Robotics Competition challenges a team's ability to overcome obstacles, use and build skills, and explore the world of science and technology.

FIRST is about motivating young people, their schools, and communities towards celebration and appreciation the power of science and technology. It is an organization that builds on working with people whom hold a variety of skills, assets and work together to solve a common goal. Through engaging in common goal.
